Good Friday and Good Beans

Updated: Jun 7, 2021

Making the most of my day off experimenting with lighting and textures with the Fuji XF80mm macro lens.

ISO 200 | 80mm | f3.6 | 1/200 sec

ISO 500 | 80mm | f3.2 | 1/40 sec

ISO 500 | 80mm | f3.2 | 1/30 sec

ISO 500 | 80mm | f7.1 | 1/30 sec

Here's the set-up - catching that beautiful dappled light coming through our southern facing window. I used chalkboard as matte base to absorb the light and keep the reflections to a minimum. I have a small Aputure AL-M9 kicker light shining on the front of the beans to fill in the shadows (it's hiding behind the lens in shot below). This is all resting on top of stacked apple crates to catch that just so light.

I'm using my Fuji X-T2 with 80mm f2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro lens. Each image is a focused-stacked composite in Photoshop of 3-4 images using layers and masks to paint back in details or soften others.
